Championing Derbyshire

Championing Derbyshire wanted to communicate the positive impact the London Olympics is having on Derby and Derbyshire, and also inspire people within the region to take advantage of the many personal and commercial opportunities still available.

The story needed to engage with the ares of tourism, business and the community. We decided to take some of the regions top young athletes outside their normal sporting environments, and filmed them at various iconic locations around the county. This helped communicate the positive messages resulting from the olympics across each area, and also highlight the strong sporting future the county and it’s young athletes are working hard to achieve.

The film challenges the misconception that the 2012 Olympics only effects London, and leaves the viewer optimistic that Derby and Derbyshire is taking full advantage of the games.

Customer engagement retail film

Origin were approached by East Midlands Airport to help promote the retail areas within the terminal.

A two-day shoot and bespoke soundtrack resulted in the creation of a 90-second film, combining the airport’s vibrant brand colour pallet with inspiring content to complement the choice and offers of the individual retailers. The film proved a great success with East Midlands Airport sister airport Bournemouth who now seek a similar product.

Middlesbrough FC season ticket campagn

Working closely with Origination, Origin were asked to support the 2011-12 season ticket campaign for Middlesbrough FC, by producing a series of films to help the club re-engage with their fans. At the time the team were struggling on the field but had just brought in new manager, and local legend, Tony Mowbray. After speaking with Tony, about his passion for Middlesbrough, and his plans for the future, we decided that this is what the fans would want to hear. We filmed Tony and just allowed him to talk from the heart, from this single shoot we were able to produce three films based on the themes of pride, passion and core values.

Derby County season ticket film launched

Launched this week is the full Season Ticket film for Derby County Football Club. As part of the 2010/11 Season Ticket campaign developed by Origination, we have captured the passion and emotion felt by players and fans alike in this short film.

As with the short 10 second teaser released last week the film focuses on Shaun Barker, a consistent performer for the rams, and one of the fans favorites. Many of whom see him as being the next captain of the club. In the film we wanted to show the emotion and mental preparation that Shaun goes through before a game. We spoke to him about his feelings on a match day and about his routine before kick off. From this conversation we got the quotes used throughout the film, and he also told us that a minute before going out onto the pitch he washes his face with cold water. A scene which was subsequently added to the storyboard.

It was great working with Shaun who’s cooperation helped the sincerity of the film, and if he continues to put in performances like he did against QPR then we’ll all be happy.

Smith of Derby

Origin produced an animation for Smith of Derby to help them in their worldwide promotion. The aim of the animation was to highlight the key facts and figures relating to Smith of Derby in a slightly humorous light hearted way, but at the same time establishing them as one of the best clock makers in the world.

 

The animation follows the story of the company from the creation back in 1856 to present day where they currently hold 2 Guinness world records, and have manufactured some of the worlds most iconic clocks. Visually the animation uses strong text statements and simple graphics to visually support the voiceover and carries a degree of pace that holds the viewers attention. The music on the film was kindly supplied by Hot house, an organization supported by Smith of Derby that focuses on helping young Jazz musicians in Derby excel in their music.

Derby’s World Cup bid

To support Derby’s pitch to become a host city for England’s world cup bid, Origin produced a series of films to communicate the passion within the county for football, and the practical arguments as to why the city would be the perfect stage for World Cup football. In total we created four films each designed to deliver a different supporting message about Derby’s bid. We even filmed a personal message from the voice of football himself, John Motson, personally backing Derby’s bid. The films were presented to the FA at an event managed and created by Origination, hosted at Derby’s newly refurbished Roundhouse.

Buy Mobile Phones Viral

Following Derby County’s 1-0 win over Manchester United, Origin helped Buy Mobile Phones take full advantage of the historic result. Knowing that fans would want to see footage from the game, we quickly produced a film that featured man of the match Kris Commons, along with his superb long range goal that separated the two sides. We also added a humorous element to the film by recreating the post match scene between Kris and team mate Paul Green on their mobile phones.

What is Creativity?

Inspired by the TV series ‘Look Around You’, Origin helped sister company Origination produce an short documentary on the subject of creativity. Arriving at some interesting conclusions, the film explored the curious world of creativity, and was first presented at a Derby Bondholders meeting hosted by Origination.

East Midlands Airport summer TV campaign

Working in partnership with East Midlands Airport and Thomson Holidays we created a series of television commercials promoting destinations for the operators summer ’07 schedule which ran throughout Spring 2007. Using bespoke illustrations, animation and music composed and recorded in-house, the commercials promoted a range of worldwide destinations and car parking offers. The campaign was a success hitting load targets for the operator and was extended to include radio and outdoor activity.

Hippo – Japan exhibition film

Since 1989, Hippo Golf have pushed the boundaries of technology with their innovative product development. In launching its range in the Far East, Hippo required a short, but high quality, promotional digital ident to appear on their exhibition stand in multiple languages. It proved a huge success with visitors to the event.
